It is time to say goodbye to blogger and hello to a new chapter. I'll keep my blogger account active but won't be updating or adding anything new here.

Comic Obsession

If you know me or anything about me you know that I'm obsessed with reading comics, manga, and graphic novels. I'm not sue I have ever actually written about it in my blog. So I'd like to share some of my latests reads recently and in the past.

Jeffrey Brown - "Little Things"

I also loved his first book "Clumsy"

He does some other great books too. There's a great recent series about Darth Vadar's kids. Anyway, I love his realistic and sometimes uncomfortably truthful scenes. Recently I've been obsessed with the larger manga books. Specifically those from Osamu Tezuka. His writing is layered with heavy content about fact and fiction. I find myself getting engrossed in these huge epic stories. I can't help but be swept away by the beautiful artwork as well. If you know his name you may automatically think of Astro Boy, but his other works deserve a lot of praise. He is also the godfather of manga and he truly was a master of the art. Ode to Kirihito is a two part story about a man on a medical investigation and beyond.

A fun factoid about Tezuka is that he was in school to become a doctor, his writing often reflects a medical undertone. This book was also an epic journey:
I'm sure you can tell by the title that the content is very serious. These books follow 3 characters with the name Adolf. I've read a ton of Tezuka... I don't want to blow my wad on this one post. Let's move on shall we.

I love stories about places or people I know. Yes, it actually does happen. I recently read Mimi Pond's Over Easy. A graphic novel about Mimi's time living in Oakland and working at Mama's Royal Cafe in the 70's.

When the book ended, I was wondering why there wasn't more. I would have been happy to just keep reading and reading. I also enjoy the color pallet that Pond uses and how it all just seemed so familiar.

Y The Last Man is another series that I started but haven't finished yet. It's an tale of everyone with a Y chromosome dies off except for one man and his monkey.

The series is 10 books of adventure and amazonian women. That is all I will say about that.

 Okay.. that's enough for now.

Time Lapse Solder

I've had the worst luck over the last year and half. This will sound like a country song to you.. but hold on tight. My car has been broken into 5 times and I was held up at gun point and mugged. Seriously!

Anyway... I'm soldering together a car alarm kit. I realize this is a little late, but better late than never.

Right now I'm driving around with two broken windows and broken glass all over the car. This seems to ward folks away from my car a little.
